This is 100% a financial logic decision and nothing more, which is the same reason they built it to run on fairly old PCs and 10 year old consoles. M2 is the same chip that's in current MacBooks (though I know the pricier versions scale it up to the M2 Pro or Max, which have more cores) and they run (supported) games quite well.īut Apple is, to put it nicely, not known for having great gaming framework/APIs (same cause of lack of games for the aforementioned MacBooks), and the amount of work of actually porting D4 to iOS is gonna be expensive and time consuming, and for what? They already have a Diablo designed for mobile that's using that awful monetization model. It's a way more powerful chip - an M2 is gonna out benchmark an ancient Jaguar family chip in every way.
